Hello thar, Meinos Kaen of Team JPDE here, bringing you one of a kind spook for this Halloween season!

Our team had so far mostly focused on making fan-games but, with the opportunity presented by the Spooktober VN Jam 2024, we decided to try and do something different. The result is the techno-horror game you're about to play.

You will be able to recognize many inspirations for BABELOMANIA. In the setting, the gameplay, the vibes, tropes, all things which I realized after my first attempt at an original setting that I shouldn't be afraid of but embrace. The history of videogames is one of inspiration and experimentation, and trying to reinvent the wheel every time can only lead to madness.

Despite that, what you're going to embark in with BABELOMANIA remains the most original thing I've ever created. As someone once said to me –that someone being my wife 😊- "all good horrors are a metaphor for something else", and so is the case with BABELOMANIA. The themes I've chosen for the story permeate and influence everything in the game, and I'm very proud of the work the team has done in helping me realize my vision.

A special mention needs go to Halebob, NicAnjil and Reina, the Concept Artist, Sprite/CG Artist and Background Artist for BABELOMANIA who churned out a frankly unbelievable amount of content in such a short period of time.
